UNDERSTAND/ Ghana hosts Jamaica on an Afro-beats-leaning Dance-hall Jam

Published

on

GREATER ACCRA, GHANA, April 2, 2020/BMG/ – Reggae/Ragga & Dance-hall luminary, Stonebwoy’s no stranger to dropping big time collaborations. The Ghanaian artiste has shared his last, but not the least, single , “Understand” off his much anticipated album, “Anloga Junction” (AJ) the Album.

On the N2TheA-produced track, the artiste recruits the vocal talent of singjay, Alicai Harley and fuses elements of afro-beats, dance-hall and more to deliver a catchy and melodic love sound. The track’s many elements are a reflection of Stonebwoy’s own musical influences, which range from Afrobeat to highlife and reggae & dance-hall.

“Understand” – which is the third release from the yet to unleashed album, sees the Ghanaian artiste delivering a highly-infectious and grooving concoction over afrobeats-leaning dance-hall. Alicai, didn’t disappoint, as she spiced-up the tune some undiluted verse. The jam basically talks about a young man professing his unflinching love to his “girlfriend”

Anloga Junction is set to land on April 25th. You can pre-order it now here. Pre-order Link (https://kv-online-talent.lnk.to/SBGM).

Stonebwoy adds a gleaming verse on Wauve’s Afrobeats inspired jam – “Pamela” [WATCH VIDEO]

Published

Tomorrow, October 23, North London producer and artist Wauve, aka Robeal Yohannes, will release his debut EP Shade. Although he describes himself as a producer first and a singer a distant second, if the EP’s new single “Pamela”, which features Afrobeats stars ZieZie and Stonebwoy is anything to go by, we can’t help but feel like he’s being a bit hard on himself. Stream song here: https://wauve.lnk.to/ShadeEPIN

Having found a deeper connection to his Eritrean roots as he’s grown up, Wauve’s music is leaning more and more into that East African influence, taking pentatonic scales and homegrown rhythms and blending them into the traditionally West African Afrobeats sound. Add to that a touch of the R&B and trap that first inspired him to make music and the result is light and breezy sound that takes Afrobeats into new territories that should probably be explored a bit more.

Hit play at the top to see Wauve, ZieZie and Stonebwoy cut loose in the barbers while they try to catch the attention of the titular heroine.

Stonebwoy is the guest artiste on “London Love” Remix by Weslee and P2J

Published

on

London-based Nigerian producer P2J has remixed the track “London Love,” by New York duo Weslee. Joined by the king of Afro-dancehall, Stonebwoy, this feels like one last slice of summer. This P2J remix of “London Love” trades in the soulful vibes of the original for similarly smooth Afrobeat accents.

P2J’s sun-kissed remix for ‘London Love’ sees Stonebwoy, the Ghanaian superstar, adding his Afro-Dancehall flavours to this latest version. It already has the makings of a heady hit. And for good reason: P2J is convinced that Afrobeats has been steadily infiltrating the U.S. airwaves for the past few years. Davido, Burna boy, Wizkid and of course, Stonebwoy … it’s likely most will have heard their music thumping out of car speakers this summer, bringing the uplifting vibes you want when the sun is out.

For a few years, he was one of the key producers for artists looking to add an Afrobeats edge to their music. “London Love” is one such example, where Stonebwoy’s powerful voice combines with the hypnotic sounds of Weslee’s Emma, bringing new energy to the original track.

Stonebwoy dropped his 4th album earlier this year, which featured the likes of Keri Hlson, Alicai Harley and Nasty C. His latest collaboration on this remix reflects his pan-African dream, though he has no plans to leave Ghana anytime soon.
